Climate Change

Climate change represents a fundamental risk and challenge to the long term sustainability of our environment and our livelihoods.

Moreover, future decision-making will need to consider adaptation as a primary strategy for reducing climate change risks.

Climate change factors including sea level rise will have major impacts on sandy coast shorelines and we have developed innovative modelling capabilities to predict those impacts.

Our unique blend of skills across a wide range of environmental fields allows us to understand the potential consequences of climate change, and to deliver solutions that are both innovative and practical.

Our extensive experience with local, state and federal government authorities, as well as community and stakeholder authorities, also provides us with an acute appreciation of the constraints within which climate change solutions need to be found.

BMT WBM is currently making a difference and assisting national and local government bodies adapt to climate change issues.

We can assist with:

  • Climate risk asessments
  • Mitigation strategies
  • Adaption planning
  • Climate change research
  • Shoreline Responses

This is particularly during extreme storm wave and water level events and where there are changes. Climate change factors including sea level rise will have major impacts on the shoreline.

  • Inundation Mapping

Large tracts of developed land along the cost will become vulnerable to inundation will be exposed to additional damage by wave run-up and overtopping of the coastal dunes.

  • Environmental Responses to Climate Change

Future climate change-induced impacts have the potential for serious impacts on the natural environment including our coastal and inland wetland environments.

  • Climate Change Adaptation Planning

Adaption to climate change may involve for example, relocation of infrastructure or rezoning of land to remove assets from an area likely to be at risk.
